I have a 2002 audi a4 recently purchased from a friend. There seems to be a problem with the fan speed when putting heat on or cold for that matter. Whenever I turn the heat on, I first press the fan speed (up button), then I set the heat to what I want. I decided to raise the fan speed all the way because its been pretty cold lately but I dont typically leave at it high fan speed; I generally leave it closer to the off fan position. When I put the fan on high there is a noise coming from the engine cabin or somewhere in the front. It sounds like when I set the fan on high, it makes the engine louder. I took it to audi and one of the service reps told me that I could have leaves in the engine, or in the radiator blower, not engine. Im not sure what that is but he said the audi servicers have to open the glove box remove that part and work on it from within the car. Is this is indeed causing the noise?

It could be something like that or even a fan motor going bad. And yes, they need to work on it from inside. It is a difficult job because of all of the dash parts that need removed. Keep in mind, it isn't uncommon for even mice to build nests in the blower motor box.

If you have other questions, let me know.

Thanks for using 2carpros. Com and I wish both you and your family a great holiday.
