Dashboard lights and taillights turn off when driving at night

At night while driving my dashboard lights will go out, when this happens my tail lights turn off as well. Brake lights still work. It would happen randomly and just hitting the steering wheel would get it to turn back on. Lately it's been constant. I'm constantly hitting the wheel to get the dashboard and tail lights back on. Any suggestions? Bought this car a year ago and there are weird quirks to it.

It sounds like the taillight relay is not working correctly. To confirm here is a guide to help us test it with the relay location below:
