Just bought this Outback in Atlanta, and drove it to my home at 8,000 feet in Colorado. Go figure, upon arrival, the check engine light comes on! It has come on and gone off a few times in the past week, and the mechanic did the computer test on it, and said "How strange", it came up with the idea to replace some air valve (don't remember exactly) that he says he has almost never seen in a Subie. Of course it would cost $500. So, he reset the computer, thinking maybe it's just adjusting to the altitude change.
but it came on again.
I am just hoping that it could be anything simple like altitude, or just a weird check engine light, anything but this part that he never sees go wrong in a Subie.
Anyone have a similar experience?

My friend has a 2002 Forester and has had tons of trouble with her check engine lit going on. They replaced the the sensor like 3 or 4 times. Big pain, I will find out what the latest outcome is for you.
Good luck.
