98 Sebring Fuel Light & Guage

My daughter has a 1998 Sebring convertible and the fuel low light keeps coming on every 20-30 seconds and the needle on the gauge drops and comes back to normal (full, 2/3, 1/2 etc) This happens even though the fuel tank is full. The light sometimes flashes 3 times in a row and then back to the 20-30 second interval. Is this a sensor and if so where would it be in the tank or closer to the engine? Thanks

The problem is gonna be the fuel sending unit. It's located in the gas tank and if it's like most other cars, it will be part of the fuel pump. Your best bet is to call and find out if the pump is seperate from the sending unit. I know new fuel pumps can be pricey. What this unit does is send a signal to the fuel gauge to let u know the fuel level. Hope this helped
