Bought my JGC Laredo (4.7L V8, 4WD) used about a year ago. Has approximatly 72k miles on it. When my steering wheel is turned all the way to the left, there is an odd grinding/rubbing noise coming from front left wheel. Also, sometimes when I brake I hear a single knock from the same wheel. Happens often if I brake while the wheel is turned to the left. In addition, front axle near the left wheel is very oily. Something wrong with the 4wd? Differential? Brakes? Dont know where to start. The dealer has been no help and says "everything appears normal". Worried about repair cost, but also just want to right the ship.

Any suggestions?

Update:

Now its starting to make a whirring noise from the same wheel at highway speeds. Noise is becoming more and more common. Jeep dealership still has no answers. With my work schedule, I really have no time to take it for second and third opinions.

Thanks for your time

The dealer doesn't want to help. AKA "wanna buy a new car".
I would be suspicious of a wheel bearing problem. Try to get it to be more consistent. Such as Drive in a circle to the left fairly aggessivly, but safely. Put it in reverse and keep the wheel cocked. Repaeat back and forth. The stress put on the bearing may cause it to act up when driving in this manner. IF it does this, my recommendation is to visit the IATN website and find a member of this site in your area to take it to and confirm this. Use an OEM bearing if so.
