02 Expedition fuel problem

Here is one for you motor heads out there. My 02 Expedition with 40,000 on a V8 has a problem with parking on a decline. If we park it facing down hill, like in our driveway, for longer than a few minutes, the fuel gaauge will drop to empty then the engine will respond as though it has run out of fuel. It has also done this coming down from Pikes Peak which caused some excitement!! We took it to the local dealer only to have them drive all over town and tell us they couldn't duplicate it. Go figure, less than stellar help from a dealer.
Any ideas??

The answer to your problem is to keep more gas in your tank.
If you put a cup of water in a 5 gallon bucket and tip the bucket all of the water runs to one side. If you stick a straw in the middle of the bucket and try to suck the water out you will only suck air.
This is what is happening in your tank. If all of the fuel is at one end of the tank, the fuel pump will only suck air. If you are planning to go hill climbing make sure you have at least a half tank full.
Not a mechanical problem just a financial one. Get a bank loan and fill the tank 8)

Oh my god. I can't believe that the moderators of this site allow such an idiotic muse to continue on. If you can honestly answer my question with "get a loan and keep the gas tank full" then I'll open my own car repair center and make a killing. The levelof fuel makes no difference. Full, 1/2, near empty, the gauge and fuel level changes to the point that it will actually run empty. Come on, where are the true repair experts that have given honest, valuable advice.
