I changed the fluid and filter. Helped a little. But somethings still wrong. Won't rev up and I have neutral in the reverse position when I turn it off. I have looked at the linkages but haven't gotten any further. I haven't adjusted any of them. They seem to be tight, no slop.

Well. Automatic. Wasn't aware that my f-150 with a manual had a filter, but the f-250 with a 460 engine with automatic transmission is giving me my current issues. The key does turn and comes out. However, once in a while I have to line up the part that the key goes in because its not in the correct position. So are you saying to ck. The thrittle cable to see if its connect to the gas pedal?

This issue is most likely caused by your shifter linkage is out of adjustment. This means when you think you are in drive according to the shifter it is actually not fully engaged. This is why when you turn it off, it says it is in reverse. It is not actually in reverse but the shifter needs to be adjusted so that when it says it is in D it is actually in drive.

I attached the process of how to do this. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
