I ran out of gas, and was putting some in my car from a gas cannister. The extension nozzle fell into the gas tank. Should I have it removed or will it dissentgrate?

Hi tonymc34,

Depending on the materials used for the nozzle, it could have different results. Most plastic based hose would not disintegrate and would stay in the tank till it is removed.

Removing the fuel tank unit from under the floorboard might allow you to gain access to remove the tube but if it fails, you would have to remove the fuel tank assy.

The plastic fuel can and lid or nozle is designed to have gas around it or on it. If it doesn't cause any problems starting and no fuel delivery problems then just change your fuel filter every two years and don't worry about it.
That is what I would do. Besides it will probably just float around and cause no problems. Thanks David Newton
