Engine overheating

I have a 1994 cadillac deville. 138.000 miles, 4.9 liter. I have a new water pump and new radiator. After the new radiator was installed the car will run about 10 minuters and starts overheating. It did not do this with the old radiator which was leaking. They checked the thermostat and said it was good. They said its probably my headgasket. But it had no symptoms for a head gasket problem. Could the install have been flawed? If its a head gasket is their a sealant than can be used to repair it. I have donated 2 dollars as I am on a fixed income and cant afford any more. Thank you anthony zumpano. Tonyzump@roadrunner. Com

First I have to ask, are the hoses at the top and at the bottom of the radiator hot? Or is just one?

Post back your results so we can continue.

Yes both of them were hot. The hose from the heater core was not as hot. Thanks for looking into this. Tony

Ok, first I would like you to check the ignition timing, then if that is good I would like you to take the thermostat out yourself and use a hair dryer and heat it up to see if it opens, if not its bad and you shoudl replace. Besure to install it the proper way.
