I recently test drove a 93 Acura Integra, has approximately 222000 miles.

The engine runs/sound relatively quiet and the car has had some significant parts replacements that include: new radiator, brakes, bearings, thermostat, water pump, timing belt, catalyst, starter and tune up.

Its starts right up/cuts right off without any issues. However, when the car is in drive and stopped per say at a red light, while idling it begans to ""SHAKE."

What might be causing the shaking? (It only shakes while idling in gear, not when in park).

I'm considering buying the vehicle, but want to be sure I'm not getting stuck with a major issue.

Please advise.

Thanks,

G

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

This may still be a tune issue, I would be checking that the base idle speed is not to low, a scan may pick up some issues not resolved by the last tune up, also a comp test is important as well, start here.

Hondas and Acuras are known to pick up an engine shake over time due to a couple of reasons. One reason is mechanical (engine wear and carbon build up) which is usually something most people just deal with.

Another reason would be bad motor mounts, does it shake more in reverse then it does drive? If it does then it probably is motor mounts.

Mark,

You're welcome and thank you.

I agree that it may be a tuning issue, and because of that I am going to see if I can get the owner to agree to paying half of the cost of a diagnostic check.

I appreciate your quick response.

Thanks again,

Gerome

David,

Thanks for your input. I'm going to schedule a computer diagnostic check, so hopefullly any major issues will be revealed. (Crossing my fingers)
