I just bought a 1991 Acura Integra GS and for some odd reason the thing is gutless as all can be. The car stays running but it sounds like it wants to die but doesn't, it sputters! When you step on the gas it goes 0 to 60 in the longest amount of time. It takes forever to catch speed. What would cause my car not only sound bad and run bad, but not perform at a normal 1.8L DOHC motor!
When I bought the car they had rebuilt the engine 50,000 miles ago. The car was really taken care of. I just can't figure out its problem! Please HELP!

Hi BJjkhk59,

Thank you for the donation.

There are a few possibilities when there is loss of power and you would have to perform some test to get the necessary info.

We need to verify if it is fuel delivery and supply OR ignition trouble that is causing the problem. Check the ignition timing to see if it is set correctly. Test the fuel pressure to verify if it is within specs.

Does the Check Engine Lamp illuminates while driving?
Have you checked the spark plugs and wires?

Let me know what you find and we shall continue from there.

Is the ignition timing correct?

Another thing to check would be the timing belt synchronisation. If it is off by a tooth, the performance would be greatly affected.
