Hello, I have a 1998 2.3 CL and I have no idea what wrong with my car, Only when its cold outside (in the mournings-below 50 degrees) my transmission seems to not work. When I put it in Reverse I jerks into reverse but moves fine in reverse. But when I Put it in D4 I barely moves. In D3 it pulles the exact same. IN second gear it moves a little better but still barely moving? Soon as the temperature starts to change the transmission will work fine without missing a beat, or if I let the car warm up for about 10 mins, cut it off and start it back up it shifts perfectly fine. Have you ever heard of this and can I fix it. OH yeah the Check engine light is on and that's because of 3 things, the computer, crank sensor and cat converter, is what I was told when I had it checked by a mecanic. Would the computer being bad have anything to do with this? Thank you in advance, strangest thing I ever heard.

The computer takes in all of the information from various sensors and calculates numerous things. Fuel, air, etc. It could be an issue. What comes to mind most is the tranny fluid. How long ago was it changed, is it full, what color is it, how cold are we talking about as "cold" and what is "warm"? There is the possibility that the fluid needs to be replaced as it might thicken when cold.

No definitive answers but I guess I would look at the fluid first.
