I have heat on passenger side but ice cold air coming from driver side. I am assuming the driver side blend door is broken. Actuator is working. I do not have the money to have someone replace the distribution box or want to remove the dash. My question to you is, is there someway I can drill a hole so I can get access and lift that blend door so I can get heat? I do not have any diagrams showing what inside the distribution box or know how the blend door sits or looks like inside the box.

Good afternoon,

The actuator is just under the dash and easy to access.

Do you have dual controls? I do not see a listing for just the drivers side. If you do not and you have heat on the passenger side, it could be a heater core that is clogged.

To clear it, you would need to remove the hoses under the hood to the core. Then use a garden hose to flush the core back and forth until all the debris comes out. Then reattach the hoses and run the engine to see if the heat is good on both sides.

REMOVAL

WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable and wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. If equipped, remove the silencer from below the driver side of the instrument panel.
3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (3) from the blend door actuator (2) located on the driver side of the air distribution housing (4).
4. Remove the two screws (5) that secure the blend door actuator to the actuator mounting bracket (1) and remove the actuator.

Hi Roy, no my car does not have dual climate. The actuators are all working fine. The heater core is not clogged. Floor/face/defrost modes works like it should.
The problem is the hot/cold blend door on the driver's side inside the distribution box. I am looking for a way to hack into the air distribution box to lift the blend door to the hot position until the spring when I can replace it. I have searched for diagrams that show exactly where the blend door is so I can find a access point but could not find anything. I since this is a single climate I think there are two blend door that are both connected to one shaft through the one actuator that controls the hot and cold. One actuator turns one shaft that turns two mode door simultaneously. I believe the mode door on the left driver's side is broken or stripped.

The easiest way to do this is to remove the actuator for the left side. Try moving the door manually to see if the lever is connected to the shaft of the actuator. If it is not, then you could drill a small hole in the case to access the door and move it to a position that will give you heat, providing that is the actual issue.
