The car sat for a little over a year. No clue if it was making this noise before that.

i was doing some WOT pulls to clear out cobwebs after I had put fresh oil in and ran a full tank of gas through, the car seemed a little unresponsive. Had a friend suggest that it may just need to be opened up and ran a little to clear the cobwebs, break some things loose.

That's when I noticed When I take off, if I just roll into the throttle and let the motor slowly build rpms, the whine is sort of there but barely noticeable. If I floorboard throttle, around 3-3500 rpms I start to get a whine that starts, then stays until throttle is let out.
Doesn't do it at lower rpms. Doesn't do it unless hard acceleration. It doesn't sound like a transmission whine. It's almost a mixture of a whine and a squeal. Doesn't just sound like intake suction either.

any ideas on where to start/how to diagnose this?

Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can hear the noise? That way I can tell for sure what's going on. You can upload it here with your response.

It'll be a day or two. Currently I have the car torn apart for some front control repairs. Have a ball joint that Thor himself must have hammered in. Hope to get it back on the road tomorrow.

Thanks for the video, it helps. It sounds like part of the catalytic converter has come apart and has clogged the muffler. I would raise the car up and use a mallet to bang on the exhaust to see if you can hear partials inside the exhaust system to confirm the failure. Please let us know what you find.

The squeal sounds like part of the converter?
The rattle noises were me going over train tracks. I'll get a better video today

Hi,

I noticed it has been a couple of days since we heard from you. Have you been able to make any progress? We're interested in knowing.

Take care,

Joe

Replaced the knock sensor. That was fun. Wasn't the issue. Just was another code I had.
I believe the squeal is coming from my ac compressor. Put new belts and pulleys on then noticed that the A/C was locking up. Going to pull that belt off and see if that fixes the squeak tonight.

Hi,

Make sure the belt is tight. You may have a tensioner starting to fail.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

The belt is tight, it's the pulley that is used for the fans on some cars. Going to buy a delete and bypass it. Well at least I think that's what it is. Took the belt off the compressor and helped some squeaks. But the squeal after 4,000 RPMs is here.
Also changed the oil tonight after 600 miles and it looked dirty. I think the previous owner didn't run synthetic and it's clearing out some sludge. Poor car just needs some TLC.
