ABS warning light popped on the other day, and my brake lights are also stuck on! Checked fuses, replaced and tested brake light switch. Brakes work fine. I know this is going to be something expensive. I just don't know where to go next. I have a test light and multimeter and have used them everywhere I can think of. Where i'm a little confused is wouldn't the ABS warning only come on for the ABS part of the brake system or would it come on by default for any problem in the rake system i.E; brake lights? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as my truck was just totaled in an accident 3 weeks or so ago and this car is my only source of transportation to and from work and I just spent everything I had to get it and it had some stuff I needed to fix before this happened. Long story short, I obviously can't drive without brake lights, but if I cant fix the problem quick enough, i'm going to have to temporarily have brake lights that go on and of at my say so one way or another.

Good morning,

The ABS will come on when there is a fault detected in the ABS system itself. It will turn on both the ABS and the brake light.

There is a code stored for this fault. You can go to a parts store and they will read the code for free for you. That will help me narrow the area of failure for you. If the shop does not have a scan tool for the old cars, push the off and warmer button on the dash with the key on and tell me the codes. They will list such as E codes, F codes and such.

As far as the brake lights, what voltage did you have at the brake light switch under the dash? I attached a wiring diagram for you to view of the brake light switch as well.
