Van listed above is the XLE model, 2WD.
A/C would shut off for very short periods but turn on within a couple of minutes at first. Over the next couple of months it got worse. Last week I never new how long it would run. Now it doesn't come on at all.
During the time it would run I used some gauges to check the if the system was low of refrigerant and to check the pressures. Not low and the readings matched the ambient temperature. Example low 94 degrees low side 47 high side 232.
I replaced the clutch relay and compressor still won't come. I pulled the relay and checked the pins and there is power to the relay coil and to one side of the contact when I turn on the controls in the cabin.
I jump the pins to the clutch at the relay pins base and clutch does not engage.
When the compressor was running it sounded the same as the day I bought the van 5 years ago.
How can I test the A/C clutch? Could the pressure switch be bad and where is that?
Given this information what should I do?

Hi,

If pressure is good and you have power to the clutch (you jumped the pins at the relay) and it won't engage, then the clutch is bad. Have you confirmed that there is power to the clutch when you jumped the relay?

In all honesty, if this is the original compressor, you may want to consider replacing the clutch and compressor at the same time. It has a lot of miles.

Let me know.
Joe

Confirmed power at clutch connector. Ordered compressor with clutch. Thank you.

I have another unrelated issue. Last fall I had some used tires put on from a local shop. Early spring this year my tire pressure management system turned on. I checked pressure and it was high high. Figured it was temperature change. It kept coming on every once in a while so I kept checking and adjusting to the specs which is 35 psi. Not long after. All these lights came on. They would sometimes last a short time other times not till the next day. This went on for about a month. Then one day they turned on and have stayed that way.
I have no idea what this could be. I took it to a local parts store where they can scan for faults and nothing can up. It runs fine everything seems to work. The indicator light for the tire pressure management system is blinking rapidly and the other lights (VSC, brake and track off) just stay on.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I need you to copy and paste the new question to a new thread. We are trying to keep the posts specific to one topic. I hope you understand.

Also, let me know if the compressor takes care of the issue.

Take care,
Joe
