Hi and thanks for using 2carpros.com.

When the car will not move, does it seem to be in neutral? In other words, does the engine rev but the car not move?

I ask because it sounds like the transfer case is shifting into neutral which can be the result of many things. There is an electric actuator on the transfer case that shifts between the different modes of operation. The actuator may be bad, there could be switch failure, there is even an electronic control module related to the system.

I have the diagnostic flow charts, but they are very involved and I don't want to confuse you with information that isn't relevant to this problem.

Let me know.
