Engine swap, 2.5l to 3.0l?

I have a 2005 Mariner Premiere with a blown 2.5l engine. I have access to a rusted out 2008 Mariner Premier with a good 3.0l engine. Both are automatic FWD transmissions. Can the 08 3.0l be swapped into the 2005 Mariner with ease? Are the two compatible? What would need to be changed or brought over from the 2008 to make this work?

While they are both badged as Mariners that is about all that interchanges easily. 2005 is a first generation while 2008 is a second gen vehicle. Ford made a lot of changes between them and as such made most swaps into a nightmare.
For what you want to do you would need to swap the engine, transmission, front and cabin wiring harness, the engine computer, dash and body modules need to be changed for the v6 electronics to control the engine and transmission. In short it could be done, but it's a lot of work.
