What you're missing is GM is one of the top manufacturers in the world for customer-unfriendly business practices. They have more former owners who have said, "never again". They have to keep advertising for new customers because so many won't buy another one of their vehicles. It's not the quality of the ride, or the paint finish. It's how you're treated once they hooked you into buying their product. You'll notice the GM sales people are extremely high-pressure too.
The top manufacturers for customer-friendly business practices, (not according to me), are Hyundai, Toyota, and Chrysler. Ford is on the bottom of my wish list but at least they treat you better than VW, BMW, and GM.
