Hello, is it true I will need to change the oil in the focus early the first time? I was told its due to metal shavings since the motor is breaking in. Should I change it at 2600 or 3000 or not worry about it?

Your owners manual will probably explain this

Have you looked in it?

Let us know what you find/ don't find

I'll attempt to get you better info, should you not see anything.

On my Jeeps ('77 and '46) I changed my break in at 500 miles and then at again at 3000 miles (normal change is 3000)

That's sorta what the "old timers" suggested---besides, whats 5 quarts of oil, a filter, and 15 minutes of my time. It certainly ain't gonna hurt nothing. When we're talking about the "well being" of my babies!

I drive my '77 as a primary driver, I rebuilt both engines in '96, I take care of them 100% myself. It's still going strong!
