2012 Chevrolet Other Sonic code p0171

Yes I have a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic earlier today on my way home to North Carolina from West Virginia my check engine light came on. I took it to get it the code and it came up code P0171. The guy at advance said it was nothing serious and nothing to worry about. But what could be causing the code to come up and is it serious and how is it fixed.

parts salesmen are not techs, they sell parts.

171 is a lean code that could be caused by a vacuum leak, pcv valve, mass air flow sensor or low fuel pressure from a bad fuel pump. all these need to be checked. I would never, never ignore a check engine light.
