Hey Joe / Ken,

Terry here again with another issue with the wife's Sport Trac. LOL I attached the wrong picture and can't remove it, or don't know how. Getting error B1342 and display Check Brake System, says internal ECU error. This call for a new computer?
It drives fine and the brakes work fine. And the drive line hasn't fallen out yet from the previous go around - thanks Joe for the help. : )
I can send the other picture on next response
Thanks guys, Terry

Here is the image I meant to attach.
Course both are sideways when attached, sigh.
I wish we could correct and rotate them for you and add more photo's if needed.
Thanks guys.
Terry

Welcome back!

I just wish you had good news. LOL Regardless, it's good to hear from you.

As far as the code is concerned, if that is the only one present, clear it and see if it comes back. If it does, the ABS module needs to be replaced.

Take a look at the pic below.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Joe

Hey Joe,

Yeah, me too. LOL
I have gone as far as I can to clear the codes more than once
And today I even undid the Neg battery cable - turned on the headlight switch to drain any juice floating around, pull the cables off the Computer and put some dielectric grease on those connections, course it isn't related as I found out. But the codes come right back as soon as you turn the ignition on. Just so happens this is the same side as the compressor and the side that was wrecked a while back.2021 actually. So perhaps what I might try next is pulling off that wire harness, put some dielectric grease on it and work the plug in and out a few times to scruff up the connections and see what it does then.
I have been able to clear it in the past at times, but within a day or two it would come right back on. As said, the brakes work fine on the car, and I've installed new brakes around the thing, and replace both front wheel bearings and speed sensors with it.
I really never believed in a Lemon, but am starting too. LOL.
My wife bought this thing from the company she works for and I figured they kept it maintained. Ha. That was a joke of sorts. The AC still blows out the window vent if you fiddle with that switch but finally returns to the dash vents. And I've changed some of the vacuum hoses on that.(Different thread I think we have) and still fuss with it at times.
Anyway. The reverse trans issue, drive line issue, wheel bearings, sway bar bushings front and back. Shall I go on. LOL. Lemon, lol. But it keeps running and I honestly like the stupid thing myself. Anyway, I shall give it a go again and keep you posted.
Thank man,
Terry

Hi,

Most OEM parts become obsolete from the manufacturer after 10 years. That doesn't mean you won't find one. The OEM part number should be AL2Z2C219C

That thing took a good hit. Was anyone hurt? Also, I always liked them as well. Now I'm into the Jeep Gladiator. LOL

Let me know how things work out for you.

Joe

It rattled my wife pretty good. All the upper air bags went off, but not the steering wheel.
The guy did a really nice job fixing it up. The center post was tweaked and front door hinges to the body were messed up. The guy was able to fix all that and replace the doors, but we didn't replace the air bags. Left them alone. Got screwed on the insurance claim and the wife signed off on it with the insurance company before I could read the paperwork. So, the short of it we couldn't go after the driver for the extra money it would have taken to fix the entire car correctly. Air bags. And since I'm not on the loan papers or title.I couldn't take him to small claims either.
Funny. What ran into her was a Dodge Ram truck. Knocked off some of his plastic front bumper. That was about it. Folded the Ford up like a beer can. LOL
I hunted down the part, and asked my buddy here if his scan tool does programming. I see we might be able to get the info off the old one and download it to a replacement if I find one cheap enough. Thank you, Joe, Terry
