The heater core in the cabin stays hot even if the air conditioning is set to minimum for a long time. It is very hot in our part of South Africa (35 deg Celsius). Must the water flow stop through the heater core when the air conditioning is switched on. If not, where can the problem lie?

Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

There is a blend air door that opens and closes based on what temp you want. The coolant through the heater core doesn't stop. If you get heat when the AC is on, the blend door must be stuck. It is located under the dash near the heater core box. Check to see if it is operational.
