2010 Mitsubishi L200 Noise when vehicle stops

When stopping, in stop and start traffic, as the vehicle gently rocks back from the forward momentum a noise is heard. On gentler stops when the vehicle does not rock back as much the noise is faint or not heard. The noise appears to be getting louder.
Could this be related to the steering column?

That noise could be coming from virtually any point in the suspension. Someone is going to have to narrow down the location a lot better until you can isolate at least the immediate area.
