That would be typical of a binding upper strut mount. That by itself is not serious or dangerous as long as the steering still turns freely. Reach over the top of the tire, wrap your fingertips around the coil spring, then have a helper slowly turn the steering wheel. The spring should turn freely with the wheel. If you feel it wind up, then suddenly snap free and rotate, the upper mount is binding.
Often those mounts can develop problems that can't be seen until they're disassembled to replace the struts, then the mechanic has to tell you more parts are needed than just replacement struts. Replacing the mount requires the same work as replacing the struts, so consider holding off until new struts are needed. They shouldn't really be ready for replacement yet at the mileage you listed unless one is leaking oil.
