Hi
I have Chevrolet car 2009 suberban I think 4 wheels drive was on and I didn't notice.
I stopped the car at the carage back to drive after hours and found column shifter move free without change the position.

check for a broken shifter cable it is in two pieces. or it's disconnected from trans.
