Hello,

i have purchased a vw polo 1.6 2008 and it has 64,000 Km. (Im the 1st hand owner)
i have noticed some strange behavior as my car started loosing power during the drive ( kick downs) and almost got in to a halt.
i have taken it to a mechanic and they have replace the g58 ( or something like that) part.

i have no more loss in power - but not for some reason the engine light icon is always yellow ( not blinking) what is wrong with the car?

Thanks

Dave

The Engine Computer detected a problem, set a diagnostic fault code, and since the problem could adversely affect emissions, it turned on the Check Engine light. It's possible the mechanic forgot to erase the previous fault code once the repairs were completed. Also, when there is a fault code already in memory, any other self-tests that rely on the circuit will be suspended. Once the first problem is repaired, those self-tests will resume, and it's THEN that a new, different problem will be detected, and the Check Engine light might turn on again.

The place to start is by having the fault code(S) read and recorded. Many auto parts stores will do that for you for free.
