I have a 2008 Toyota sienna CE and just started to hear a rattling noise when the a/c cycles on. When checking to see what it is. I figured that it wasn't the ac unit. Got closer to the belt tensioner and see it moving a little excessively. Might that be the problem that I am having, is the belt tensioner or a worn out belt. Or another problem. And where can I find a how to page if it is the tensioner. Thanks.

From your description it sounds like it is the tensioner. Is that the only pulley you see excessive movement in? turn the ac off and get out and look at it and then turn the ac on and look at it again. Like you said it may not be related to the ac but when the ac turns on it acts as a load on the engine and may make the noise more noticeable. I have seen this quite a few times in older automatic tensioners, let me know what you find it probably just need to be replaced.
