Engine noise, rattles and shuts off?

I drove my car after I put oil in it. I didn't give it time to rest, I just got in it and drove. The car was fine all the way to my destination. On my way back from my destination halfway back my car rattles and then it shakes and then it shuts off. I turned it back on it came back on and then 2 minutes later it is shut right back off again. I've been having that problem with my car since June, and I've been afraid to drive it or do anything to it. I was told that I blew the motor so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to salvage my car or if I need to just junk it.

Hi,

When you added oil, how low was it? Also, are you sure it isn't overfilled? When you heard the noise, was it a rattle or more like a knocking?
