My 2008 MX5 showed codes B1318 and B1884 just before the 4 year service. The car was serviced by my Mazda dealer and reset.80 miles later the EML light is on again. This time the code is P0131. Is there a connection between these codes? Also Is there any way the Mazda dealer could have caused the P0131 code by incorrect service procedure? Thanks Roger

Hello,

The code B1318 is for the anti lock brake system and P0131 is a emission code. So they should not be connected. Its hard to say if the service procedure did something for the light to come on.

I have attached the diagnostics steps for the P0131.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Good evening,

The B codes are for the restraint system in your car. They indicate low voltage in the system.

Every time I see low voltage, the first thing I recommend is checking the battery. A bad battery can cause this code.

I attached the flow charts for both codes below. Follow the carts and let me know if you need any other help.

The 131 code has nothing to do with the B codes.
