Code P0301 cylinder one misfire

1. I changed spark plugs and air filter 2. I changed the coil pack on cylinder 1 3. I tested cylinder compression, checked out 4. I changed the fuel injector on cylinder 1. Things to note: I clear the code and the car idles smooth around 1200 rpm for 30 seconds before the rpm's dip to 700 and the check engine light flashes again. When I remove the plug to the MAP sensor, the check engine light no longer flashes.
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Blink
JA: Are you fixing your Element yourself? What have you tried so far?

Hi Joey,

You need to start with monitoring the o2 sensor data to see if it is a lean misfire or running rich.

Without this data we are just guessing as to what the issue is. If we know which it is then we can chase the correct direction.

Hopefully you have access to a scan tool to monitor live data. Any o2 sensor data including fuel trims (short and long term) will be of assistance.

I would not condemn the MAF because the light stops blinking when it is unplugged. This is most likely because the PCM uses the MAF to help determine misfire detection. When you unplug it, is most likely disabling the monitor.
