Hi,
Several years ago I had issues with the electrical components on this wagons tailgate. I found that the wire harness had been damaged by the hinge mechanism, so I fixed it. Some years later, I backfit the car with LEDs, including the Rear License Plate lamps. Everything worked fine. With car off, the plate LEDs glowed ever so slightly due to "leakage", but unlike the interior dome lights, this cause me no problems so I did bother with a bypassing resistor. Recently, the plate lights stopped coming on bright. They still glow dimly all the time. I investigated and found that the wiring harness I had repaired earlier was damaged again. Fixed it...again. The plate lamps still do not come on bright. I have disconnected the NEG batt terminal and held it to the POS terminal for 10+ seconds in an attempt to reset the solid state switch, but that did not solve the problem either. Do you have any other suggestions? The car will not pass NYS Inspection without these lights.
Thank you!
