2007 Jeep Liberty Steering issue

For the past 2 weeks every time I make a left hand turn, beyond a certain point, a loud squeaking noise is heard coming from my wheel. I looked at it yesterday and pulled a small twig from inside the wheel. The noise has gotten better but on my way to work today I smelled something burning coming from my wheel. This went away after a few minutes, and then when I got to a stoplight my brakes were grinding a little bit. Again, the grinding stopped after a few minutes and the brakes were normal. I am stumped! What could this problem be?

You need to have it inspected by a mechanic. We can't see it or hear it, and nothing common comes to mind. If the noise occurs while the vehicle is standing still, look at the serpentine belt that runs the power steering pump. If the vehicle has to be moving, look for a bent brake splash shield that's rubbing on the brake rotor. At the mileage you listed the brake pads should be inspected for wear too.
