Transmission was empty.... Filled it up....now won't go in reverse... Does it need to sit or is it more serious

A transmission should never have to "sit" in order for it to operate normally unfortunately. You may have an internal issue and its likely since the transmission was empty. It most likely caused internal damage. I would bring it to a transmission shop to verify. Best of luck.
