ok me and my friend trade vehicles once and awhile, because he needs to use my truck and he leaves me with his subaru, he warned me that it just dies anytime anywhere with know warning or sputtering or anything at all just dies, it hasnt happened to me yet but my girl drove it to the store last night and it did it. so then you just pull over for a minute or 2 and it starts right back up and runs fine until the next time. i was thinking it might be the fuel filter because i think when it plugs up it dies then when it sits a minute the gunk settles enough for the flow to go though again see ive never had a fuel filter problem in my life so i dont know if it would sputter or some kind of warning, but it does nothing but just dies, my girl thinks its electrical. please help thanks

A restricted fuel filter will not cause driveability issues. It will ruin the fuel pump long before that happens. The engine only consumes about 10% of the volume delivered by the fuel pump. The rest is returned to the tank.

Have you checked the computer for codes?
