I own a 2006 jeep wrangler 2.4L 4 cyl 6 speed-manual. I am not currently with my vehicle but a friend said that my clutch slipped and that he could get in into any gear without engaging the clutch with the car off.

the research that i've done has said that people can not put it into a gear at all. I just need more information on the issue or possible issues it may be?

He said the clutch slipped and he is able to put it in gear without engaging the clutch when the vehicle is off. The research I've done is saying that it wont go into a gear at all. So I am just wondering what it could be and if he is right?

great site :-)

SOUNDS LIKE HE MEANS THE PRESSURE PLATE WILL NOT PICK UP OFF OF THE FLYWHEEL. TO RELEASE THE CLUTCH DISC

IS THIS CORRECT?

THE CLUTCH PEDAL ACTUATES THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER--IN TURN IT PUSHES FLUID INTO THE SLAVE CYLINDER--THE SLAVE DOES THE WORK OF LEVERING THE THROW-OUT BEARING--WHICH PICKS UP THE PRESSURE PLATE

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS

CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER IS DRY--ADD FLUID AND BLEED CORRECTLY. IF THERE WAS A LEAK, FIX IT 1ST!

THE CLUTCH MASTER COULD BE BAD ALLOWING FLUID TO SLIP BY IT'S RUBBER PARTS

THE SLAVE COULD ALLOW FLUID TO SLIP BY TOO

IF EITHER ARE BAD REPLACE THEM--FILL AND BLEED

SOME OF THESE MAY HELP YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THIS SYSTEM SORTA WORKSKEEP US POSTED
