Hi Guys, I hope you can help. I have recently had a problem with my 2.9l diesel terri. It started last week, when I was driving along in 5th the power disappeared. It was as though I had taken my foot off the accelerator. This lasted for a few seconds and then power was returned.

The following day it got worse and worse, to the point the car was un-driveable. I call the rescue services to see if they could find the fault, but no. The car has been fully checked and there are no fault codes on the ECU (using a generic ECU reader).

When the engine is warm the accelerator has not affect on the revs of the engine, however the ECU is seeing the amount of throttle is being applied, but the engine will not rev.

I would be grateful of you thoughts as my mechanic is beginning to pull what is left of his hair out.

Thanks

Hello,

This is common when the engine goes into limp mode due to a dirty throttle bore. here is a guide to help you fix it:

Thanks Ken,
I will try it but I read an info about the brake light switch problem what is do same symptoms like this. No answer from the accelerator when I run long time at 120-130 km/h. Somebody wrote about this problem, that the accelerator and brake is not working together and the ECU disable it. The Hyundai service made a " hi scan pro " diagnosis and then changed the brake light swich and this problem has gone.

I have to try this and your advice too.
If I find the solution I will write here because lot of guys searching for the fixing of this issue.

Thanks for advice.

So did the brake light switch fix it? were the brake lights on all the time? Lets run the codes to see what comes up.

No, the brake lights is okay.
The mechanical part of the switch what is switching the brake light is fine.
But the ECU get a false signal from the brake pedal by the cable of the switch and he is guy wrote about that this part change brought the solution.
Unfortunately I don't know what is this code, but he is mentioned that after the "hi scan pro" diagnosis his got an error code, changed this brake light switch part and then everything was fine.

Thanks
