While driving during rain, it stopped and a burning smell came through the A/C vents and I just parked it.
I called a mechanic and he examined it an told that the starter motor is gone and need to be replaced. Then the car got started by pushing and I took it to a garage. They replaced the starter motor and then also the car is not taking self start. They told that the PCM has got some problem and need to be replaced.
My question is whether the car will start by pushing if the PCM is gone bad? Is it possible that the PCM can go partially bad ( only the starting section is not working and rest of all sections afre working )?
Can a PCM be repaired? What is the coding of PCM? How reliable will be the repair?
If I get a PCM from another car, will it work in my car with out coding? Can the coding/programming can be done from any place other than an authorized service center?
. I am in big trouble. I bought this car just 2 weeks back only and within 10 days it gave all this trouble to me. If at all I replace the PCM, will it fail again? What would be the cause of failure of my PCM?
Please help me by replying in detail.
