I noticed my PT Cruiser turbo was running hot while at idle but okay while I was driving. I found out the fan stopped working so I bought a new one and had it installed. Even with the new fan something is preventing the fan from coming on but what?

Did you check the old fan motor? If it was tight, it would draw higher than normal current and typically blow a fuse. There is also an electronic fan relay to provide continuously variable speed, and since it's a computer module, it has a very high failure rate.

Hey doc, I think you're going to find that this is normal operation. The fan is programmed to come on at higher temps for emissions reasons. I think they kick somewhere around 225 so that would be considerable less than the 195-200 it would run at cruising speeds.
