I have had my 300 for the past year without any problems. But lately I had the problem that it doesn't want to start unless I give it some gas plus the check engine light doesn't turn on unless I have the key in the ignition. Also when I come to a stop or its in neutral it jerks lot and tries to shut off. I already did the tune up. So what should I check next?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked the idle air control valve (IAC)? The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine idle speed.

I have checked for leaks. I am about to change the map sensor tho because I saw that it was recommend that I changed it to the model that came out. Could it be the map sensor which is causing the problem or something else like the torque converter?

The map could have something to do with it. As far as the torque converter, it wouldn't cause it to backfire.

Forget the backfiring. I must have been thinking of a different post.
