2006 BMW 750Li car runs rough at startup

When the car is cold and started up it runs really rough for approximately for a minute and a half and the check engine light is on but after that the car runs perfectly and when the weather is colder it seems to run rougher just at startup .

That could be any number of things in the ignition or fuel system causing a cold misfire. I tend to lean toward an injector problem due to the symptoms but it would require a lot of testing by a tech to confirm anything like that or even to isolate which cylinders.

Make sure you haven't overlooked the tune up basics. At that mileage you should have changed the plugs and wires (if it has them)
