Volkswagon Fender Bender

WE had a small fender bender with a volkswagon a few weeks back. The fender bender resulted in a very small scratch and a small light being knocked out of the volkswagon on the back driver's side. The car was dirvable and an estimate was received for repairs. Following repairs the other driver is now arguing that there is an interior light for a fuel cap and seat belt light on in the interior cab and that it wasn't on previous to the collision. Is it possible the small fender bender resulted in damage to the seat belt and fuel cap?

If he had this fixed already and took it to a body shop there is aground wire that is connected to the "a" pillar and by the lower steering wheel. There also is a switch on the fuel door. Either the ground wire is disconnected or broken someplace or the fuel door switch is not touching to shut the light off. It sounds like a typical body shop repair, make it look good and who cares about electrical. Unfortunately with the seat belts this could be something wrong with the air bag circuit so it shold be checked by a professional. If it was doing that when he picked it up then he should have never signed off on it at the body shop. If it was there to begin with.
