Have a 2005 Citi Golf 1.4i. It has a (key)remote which activates the alarm, immobilizer and central locking. When I press the button on remote, nothing happens. I have changed the battery on the remote (light comes one), but does not (de)activate the alarm. Suspect the sensor in the car? Not sure where to check and what to check for.

Checked the fuses as well and all okay. Have to use the key to enter and deactivate alarm by turning the ignition. Activate alarm using key to lock door.

Thanks

Hello,

It sounds like the micro switch in the door latch that tells the security system the door is closed is not working but to be sure lets use this guide to test.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Here are the security wiring diagrams to do the test.

Also it looks like there are 5 fuses that run the system can you please check them as well?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

The wiring diagrams will show you how the system works what to test and whats fuses run what.

Check out the fuse panel and wiring diagrams (Below)

Please run this test and get back to us.

Cheers, Ken

Yep I did the test by following the guide (good instructions btw) and found the door latch switch was not working so I took the latch out and found the electrical connector going to the latch was completely rusted out. Once I cleaned that out it came back to life thanks for the help love this site!
