Yep, that story doesn't pass the smell test. What was alcohol doing in the slave cylinder?

Why would anybody do that? Alcohol eats rubber and would instantly destroy the system. Something isn't right about these guys.

What they told me was they drained it and clear liquid came out and it smelt of rubbing alchohol. I am totally confused. I don't know how much this wil cost me I paid 250 to replace the master cylinder b/c they said that would need to be replaced before they could see if the slave cylinder needed to be repaired or not.

How long would alchohol be in there to stop the car from working?

It will ruin everything that has rubber in it that it makes contact with, So the master, slave and hoses. If the Brake master shares a reservoir with the clutch on that car, it will do the same thing to the entire brake system. I can't think of any way that could happen by accident. There is nothing under the hood that uses alcohol.
