Depends on the code. Was it for a small leak or a big leak? Big leaks can often be found by looking for loose hose clamps, gas cap, and cut hoses. Small leaks usually require a smoke machine. You inject white non-toxic smoke at 2 psi, then look for where it's sneaking out.
