2004 Nissan Titan Gear Stuck in reverse

My 2004 Nissan Titan 148k miles on it recently got stuck in reverse n will not Change gear when the shifter is moved to park or drive it just stays in reverse. Any ideas as to why this might be happening thanks in advance

Have you checked if the shifter cable is broken or disconnected on one end? Do you feel the normal clicks when moving the shift lever?

I haven't checked if it is broken yet cause it just happened tonight and it was dark out already. Will take a look at it tomorrow so I have some light. But when moving the shift lever it seems to be lighter clicks than normal(moves a lot more freely now)
