Have found that the TCM on car is unrepeatable the processor is fried and I need another unit. I would like to know if this type of control unit needs to be reprogrammed and where it is, by someone or can I replace it with the same type from salvage yard and just plug in and drive to reset to my car so that I can use car for a short time or does it or can it be reprogrammed to work with my car or will I need to buy a new one and it will PNP? Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello,

The TCM may need to be programmed by a shop which should cost about $130.00. But sometimes they can plug and play. Here is the location of the TCM below. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

The car's TCM has been inspected and is un-repairable I have obtained an exact match for the TCM in the vehicle my question is can I just plug it in and be able to move the vehicle or must I have it programmed by someone in order to move car (120mile trip) can I plug and play temporarily?

If the replacement TCM came out of a similar year/make/model you may be able to plug it in and go. It may not work as intended if it came out of something else even though the unit may be the same. The TCM's are programmed specifically for each vehicle at the dealer or an independent shop with the proper flash reprogramming software.
