The code that it was reading is P0722 but if it isnt the sensor in the transmission, then could it be the TCM or is it an electrical sensor or plug on the outside of the transmission that is brining up the code error.

This will normally be the sensor, but i faulty plug or damaged loom may resault in the code, you can check continuity from the sensor back to the ECU if readings are normally i would be replacing the sensor.
