Whenever I am traveling at freeway speeds and try to hit the brakes, the car makes a vibrating sound. Is the problem in the brakes? At faster speeds the vibrating sounds are much louder. At slower speeds, the sounds are not as bad. The sounds seem to be coming from the front of the car.

most likely bad rotors. Not too expensive for rotors and pads. Other thing could be contol arm bushings, ball joints, maybe tie rod ends. Probably the brakes though.

Just to add to this one can you feel the vibration in the steering wheel?if the front rotors are warped make sure the rear brake shoes are properly cleaned and adjusted.
