HI,
I have a Renault Clio 16v expression semi 5 gear shift automatic 3 door (FM03GPU) and I have started to have problems with the gearbox. When I start to drive and stop for the first time the automatic mode slips into neutral and when I want to move off I have to manually shift into 1st gear and then press the button on the side of the stick to put it back into automatic mode, also a sign shows up ( I think its called a kangaroo sign) this happens every time I stop for about a mile then stops and the sign disappears and the car returns to normal. Also a warning light has shown up on the right side of my dash.

Thanks

Have you had the computer scanned to identify trouble codes? Have you checked to make sure the trans fluid is clean and full?

Hi,
No i haven't, but i did think it could be the transmission fluid before i got in touch with you. I was going to check it myself but after researching a bit i found that the transmission fluid tank is usually sealed and there is no dip stick under the bonnet to check the levels and that the car needs to be lifted up and a bolt taken out underneath the car to check the transmission fluid? Is this true?

Thanks

Yes, that's true. It seems the auto manufacturers don't want people to work on their own cars anymore. They make everything a little more difficult each year.

However, I feel that is what need checked first. Hopefully, it is something as simple as low fluid.
